British Schools Museum Hitchin

Join Haunted UK as we investigate the British Schools museum in Hitchin.

Hitchin holds a unique place in the history of education as it boasts the world’s last remaining purpose-built Monitorial schoolroom. The grade II* listed building opened in 1837, but the school was founded in 1810, a full 80 years before the government finally provided free elementary education for all.

Today the building is operated as a museum with multiple class rooms reflecting education through the ages as well as an air raid bunker and the headmasters house all on site but it is not just the history that attracts the visitors. Paranormal activity is rife and many unsuspecting visitors have left with far more than they bargained for!

Over the years many people have reported unusual activity in the building, everything from strange noises,  unexplained voices and footsteps to full blown apparitions. 

During the night you will get to visit all of the areas of the museum and conduct various experiments with our dedicated and experienced team of investigators who will always be on hand to assit. For the braver individuals we will also fascillitate an element of free reign investigation should you so wish. Aided by the guidance of our team and the use of many techniques and various equipment your night is sure to be one you wont forget in a hurry. 

Please be aware that this location is not suitable for those with limited mobility. 

Refresments and snacks will be provided but please feel free to bring your own if you wish.
